Abstract To reduce the tooth surface measurement error of spiral bevel gear, a registration method using an improved genetic algorithm (GA) was proposed according to measuring principle coordinate machine (CMM). improve performance GA, unit quaternion used limit initial population generation space, and then simulated annealing search process. Finally, measured theoretical matched. Experimental results show that can compensate for more than 55% surface.
